Sønderlundens Family Permaculture Garden is situated in the ancient city Roskilde, Denmark, near Roskilde fjord, old forests and nature. 30-min. by train from Copenhagen.
We are an accredited LAND Permaculture Demonstration Center and exemplifies permaculture design for a family with small children in a villa garden and house. Skye Jin (mom) has the Diploma in Applied Permaculture and we teach certified introcourses, workshops, 1:1 design tutorials, nature connection and do seasonal tours of the garden.

We moved into our house and old garden in December 2015. Erik and Katrine who had cultivated the part ornamental and organic edible garden for 38 years introduced us to permaculture and from there, the garden has been our teacher and nurtured us back to a deeper connection to the seasons, other living creatures and natural ecosystems. Hundreds of perennial plants, native species as well as edibles from around the world, has taken root in the garden ecosystem, together with our friends, the frogs, wild bees, butterflies, jewelers, songbirds, squirrels, bats, mice, ants, worms, nematodes, occassional deers and hedgehogs and more. Oh, and humans too.
History: The house was built by a provost of Roskilde Cathedral for his unmarried daughter and the garden has been used for selfsufficiency for more than 120 years.
”If you are doing permaculture without design, you might just be doing gardening”
In permaculture, we design care for the coming generations: robust, biodiverse, regenerative ecosystems. It is revolution disguised as gardening - and therefore much more!
At Sønderlundens Family Permaculture Garden we have multiple living designs for all parts of our life. That does not mean we are perfect! Our design process helps and supports us in a busy everyday life with jobs and kids needs and moves us closer to our deeper values - and in the process unfold new potentials and golden keys.
We specialize in social permaculture too and implementations of designs on all levels, group decisionmaking with sociocracy and fun, creative design processes.
